Sharp pain under the heel — worst with your very first steps in the morning.
Stabbing pain in the bottom of the heel that is worst with the first steps in the morning or after sitting a long time, eases with movement, then returns after standing or walking a lot. It is often linked to long hours on hard floors, unsupportive footwear, extra body weight, tight calf muscles, or very flat or very high arches — strain that can lead to a calcium build-up (a bony spur) at the heel bone.
Every step drives your body weight through an already-tender heel pad. Hard, flat soles with no cushioning pass that impact straight up the leg instead of absorbing it, so the sensitive tissue around the heel keeps getting aggravated.
Foot Condition 02
A stabbing ache along the arch and underside of the foot that flat slippers make worse.
Stabbing pain along the arch or underside of the foot, often worst near the heel. It tends to flare after standing for long periods, walking barefoot on hard floors, or a sudden increase in activity. People often relate it to repeated strain, little or no arch support, tight calves, and thin, unsupportive slippers.
The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue running from the heel to the toes, and it stretches with every step to absorb impact. Without built-in arch support it over-stretches and develops tiny tears — which is why flat, arch-less slippers usually make the pain worse rather than better.
